Flamingo Paddock


From the Caribbean to the tall coastal heath of south-east Australia, the Flamingo Paddock brings together a range of colourful and fascinating species.

This tranquil spot is where our safari train terminates and passangers can alight for the short walk to the Black Swan Pub.

American flamingo Phoenicopterus ruber

Found in the wild in the Bahamas and Cuba, the species nests on mounds of mud and feeds by filtering small organisms out of the water or mud.

Rhea Rhea americana

Related to the ostrich but found on the South America continent, the common rhea is from the family of flightless birds called ratites.

Bennett's wallaby Macropus rufogriseus fruitica

This is one of the largest species of wallaby and they are often mistaken for kangaroos.
