Diet Primarily these deer are grazer with browse only making up about 10% of their diet. |
Identification Also known as the Indian white-spotted deer or the chital. They have a rust colour coat with white spots, with a white throat patch which is more prominent in the males.Like most deer species only the males grow antlers every year. |

Behaviour Being a tropical deer the bucks have no rutting season. Therefore they do not have any distinct breeding season and males in the same group can be seen in different stages of antler growth at the same time. They live in groups usually with 20 to 30 individuals with one dominant male.
